Annual report on state networks due

The National Association of State Telecommunications Directors will release its annual report on state networks next month.

The 1999 edition of "Networks: NASTD State Reports," an annual compilation of reports from the states, will be available Sept. 21. The report includes information on each state telecommunication agency's statutory responsibilities; state regulatory and legislative activities; ongoing and new projects; competitive procurements; and the strategic direction of the state's telecommunications initiatives.

Many states also include detailed network maps of their region.

Michigan, Washington, Iowa, Utah and North Carolina did not meet the filing deadline to be included in this year's report, but their information is available through the NASTD World Wide Web site for members and to anyone else with research questions through the association's Lexington, Ky., headquarters, said NASTD program assistant Heather Bakondy.

NASTD offers the report in a softbound book or on CD-ROM for $95 per copy. A free online preview of the 1999 report and previous versions is available at www.nastd.org.
