Pa. plates bear Web address

Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Ridge launched the state's first license plate recall since 1976 on Tuesday, as plates bearing the state's World Wide Web address across the bottom went into the mail.

The new plates are blue across the top, white in the middle and yellow on the bottom, with "www.state.pa.us" set in blue letters against the lower, yellow band.

Ridge said the Web address is both symbolic and functional, illustrating the state's high-tech leadership, but also directing people to Pennsylvania's Web presence.

This summer, the Pennsylvania home page topped the 200-million visit plateau, the governor's office said.
