SBA strategy puts priority on IT

SBA Strategic Plan 2001-2006

The Small Business Administration has made modernizing its technology systems

a priority in its new five-year strategic plan.

Among the programs SBA plans to modernize are:

* The loan monitoring system, which will manage SBA's lending programs.

* The financial management and disaster assistance system, which will

track disaster relief loans.

SBA will also develop e-commerce and e-government applications, identify

outsourcing opportunities, complete a survey of information technology skills

and requirements, and continue infrastructure improvements.

SBA's plans for this fiscal year include finishing the business case

and system planning and buying commercial software for the disaster assistance

system.

Also this fiscal year SBA will implement the loan origination, servicing

and collection system part of the loan monitoring system.
