Michigan opens e-store on state portal

Michigan has unveiled a pilot electronic store at mi-mall.michigan.gov/dnr for wildlife patches, posters and other products sold by the Natural Resources Department.

“By adding similar stores for other agencies, we will build a Michigan e-Mall where customers may order products from the state when it is most convenient for them,” Gov. John Engler said in a statement.

Revenues from the pilot store will help pay for management of nongame wildlife species such as wolves and loons.

Michigan rolled out the Michigan.gov portal three months ago. Since then, the state has worked to extend the portal’s look and feel throughout other state Web sites. The new portal has won several design awards.
