Major programs within OASIS

Online Administrative Services Information System. OASIS, the first countywide financial, human resources and payroll system, uses PeopleSoft Inc. software for enterprise resource planning.

StarKids. Riverside County’s system also handles child support operations for three other counties: Fresno, Santa Barbara and San Bernardino. The StarKids mainframe in Sacramento runs software from American Management Systems Inc. of Fairfax, Va. StarKids uses WinJa from Seagull Software Systems Inc. of Atlanta to create a graphical front end.

Electronic voting. Under the direction of registrar Mischelle Townsend, the county installed 4,200 direct-recording electronic voting machines from Sequoia Voting Systems Inc. of Hayward, Calif., before the November 2000 election. After balloting closed at 8 p.m. in the last election, all votes were counted by 10 p.m.

Microsoft enterprise agreement. County officials worked with other counties and cities to develop a request for proposals for an enterprise license providing software on 100,000 PCs. The contract went to ASAP Software Express Inc. of Buffalo Grove, Ill.
