PEC hires Schambach

Patrick Schambach, the departing chief information officer at the Transportation Security Administration, is joining technology services firm PEC Solutions Inc. in August as a general manager.

Schambach, who is ending a 32-year government career, said he would start his new job in charge of the company's civilian federal sector on Aug. 1 after taking a two-month cross-country vacation with his family.

PEC Solutions specializes in high-end e-government solutions.

"I was very selective on my job search, I cultivated a short list, and [PEC Solutions] were on my short list," Schambach said in a telephone interview.

Schambach said he made up a list of what he wanted in an employer and decided he would be more effective in a small company that "does work I like."
