What is it? Project management software is one tool, often working with portfolio management and enterprise resource planning software, to manage the risks and results of projects.

What’s new? The most significant developments have come in related tools, such as portfolio management and enterprise project management. Project management apps can feed into these systems, which provide analysis of projects within a portfolio or enterprise. Many programs are designed to support agencies in meeting President’s Management Agenda and OMB Exhibit 300 requirements, and well as those of DOD.

Must-know info? Project management software, once used primarily for IT projects, is being used for other lines of business. Organizations are moving toward using software tools to consolidate project management methods in a single office.
