Nyland to lead IBM consulting unit

John Nyland, previously the public-sector general manager at IBM Global Services, has been named managing partner of IBM’s Public Sector Business Consulting Services unit, based in Bethesda, Md.

The unit serves the government, health care and education markets with consulting and systems integration services. The government is IBM's single largest customer, according to the company.

Nyland will work closely with Anne Altman, managing director of IBM Federal, to serve the government sector.

He has been with IBM for 28 years, serving as vice president of IBM Public Sector for the Americas and as vice president of sales for IBM Federal during that span. He is also a member of the Maryland Business Roundtable for Education and is chairman of the board of the Technology Council of Maryland.
