IRS seeks input on middleware support, enterprise migration

Training and operations support....

The Internal Revenue Service wants industry comments for its draft work proposal for support for the existing Information Technologies Infrastructure middleware components.

The IRS' proposal also sets out the service's needs for the transition of its new Infrastructure Shared Services components from Modernization to Enterprise Operations.

The IRS created its middleware support division as part of its IT  reorganization last year. The work will include production support, problem analysis, infrastructure application operations and maintenance, and program and contract management.

The Middleware Support Services Section acts as the program and systems integrator for migrating middleware from the Modernization to the IRS’ Enterprise Operations, which spans the entire agency and all complexities of IT.

Middleware includes some of the agency’s most high-profile business applications, such as e-services, Modernized e-File and the Integrated Financial System. Its operations support front-end portals and back-end systems, including infrastructure interfaces.
