The same new story

Federal information technology spending has been a perennial topic of news coverage in Federal Computer Week for the past 20 years. Here are excerpts from a May 13, 1991, FCW article, “Federal IT spending to hit $21.7B.”

We went back to Federal Sources Inc. for updated figures and a new spending forecast. Robert Dornan, the firm’s vice president in 1991, is no longer there. He’s retired and living in Austin, Texas. For this story, we got our numbers from Ray Bjorklund, senior vice president and chief knowledge officer at FSI.
