Grant Thornton adds public-sector director

Robert McLaughlin has joined Grant Thornton, the U.S. member firm of Grant Thornton International, as a director of the company's Global Public Sector.

In that capacity, McLaughlin will focus on further developing Grant Thornton's gaming industry practice and on economic development for state and local governments.

McLaughlin formerly was director of the New York State Lottery, the most profitable state-run lottery in North America with sales of $7.1 billion.

Before becoming director of the lottery, McLaughlin was its deputy director and general counsel. Before joining the lottery, he was senior vice president and general counsel for the New York State Environmental Facilities Corp.
