Letter: Thompson offers empty campaign promise

Regarding “Presidential candidate would freeze government hiring”: No doubt Fred Thompson’s pledge will appeal to many. However, even if nominated by his party and elected in November, "President" Thompson would find this promise impossible to keep. Either he is aware of this or he knows very little about what it takes for government to provide the people with the services they need.
