As unemployment nationwide has been rising the federal government site has seen a dramatic 45 percent increase in visitors over the past six months, Computerworld reports.

IT has been one of the top job-search categories, with observers blaming the worsening economy for the new interest in government jobs, and overall the Office of Personnel Management reports that some 60,000 searches are conducted on the site each minute, according to Computerworld.
