DHS expands program for people to check their employment eligibility

The Homeland Security Department's E-Verify Self Check program, which allows job seekers to check their employment eligibility status before formally seeking a job, will expand into 16 more states Aug. 15, Jack Moore reports for Federal News Radio.

The program started in March, and the expansion means millions more people can go online to make sure the government has accurate information about whether they're allowed to work in the United States, the story states.

Officials announced that Self Check is now available in Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, Maine, California, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, South Carolina, Texas, Utah and Washington, the article continued.
