First IT mentor: Nancy Peters, my first business development manager after I graduated from Virginia Tech. I spent more than four years working for her at CACI. Much of what I learned under her tutelage I still apply on the job and in life today.

Latest accomplishment on the job: Within the past year, I was able to successfully balance my new job leading one of the largest deals in my company's history, serving as the Young AFCEA Bethesda president and graduating from ACT/IAC’s Voyagers Program to the Fellows Program — all while planning my upcoming wedding!

Career highlight: Receiving three awards in the past seven months: Rising Star award, International Distinguished Young AFCEAN Award and Young AFCEAN of the Year Award. I also led business development efforts and won the largest task-order contract in Blackstone Technology Group's history.

Your advice for a government IT wannabe: The contacts and relationships you develop through your professional network are critical to your success in the federal IT space.
