Federal 100: Dan Gahafer

Dan Gahafer
Program Director of Forge.mil
Defense Information Systems Agency

The work: Championing the wider adoption of Forge.mil and improving delivery of new capabilities.

The impact: The number of people using the project development tool has nearly doubled to 13,000, and the time it takes to release new services has gone from 30 days to just two.

The nuts and bolts: Two months after Gahafer was appointed director, he fielded a collaboration environment that uses social networking, which led to a greatly expanded user base for Forge.mil. In addition, a continuous delivery platform speeds the release of new services and has fundamentally changed the way the Defense Department performs information assurance and accreditation.
