Federal 100: Lt. Gen. Carroll F. Pollett

Lt. Gen. Carroll F. Pollett
Former Director
Defense Information Systems Agency

The work: Transforming DISA processes to provide rapid and efficient IT in support of warfighters.

The impact: Pollett’s involvement led to the establishment of a comprehensive data and communications infrastructure in Iraq and Afghanistan, while his support of the Cyber Command influenced the development of the Defense Department’s cyber operations.

The nuts and bolts: Pollett led efforts to institutionalize new processes for delivering IT at DISA, drove a DOD-wide convergence of enterprise platforms and dramatically improved information sharing within the department. DISA saved nearly $500 million and created $620 million in future benefits for DOD. Pollett retired in January after a 37-year career at DOD.
