Boosting government transparency. Battin is the force behind FOIAonline, a portal for submitting and processing FOIA requests. He and his 20-person team collaborated with a variety of stakeholders in government and industry to create FOIAonline as an automated service that could be shared among multiple agencies. Individuals can use it to request information from participating agencies, track the status of their requests, file appeals, and search for other people's requests, appeals and responsive records. Battin and his team have created a service that increases transparency and supports the Digital Government Strategy.
