The big saver. Brese established Energy Savings Performance Contracts that focus on enterprise IT efficiencies and use savings generated by data center consolidation and IT modernization to fund improvements for DOE's enterprise and desktop infrastructures. To ensure that the contracts succeeded, he engaged with stakeholders to reach consensus on requirements, solutions, timelines, roles and duties. He also approved a strategy to share services, cut costs and capitalize on new technologies by overhauling DOE's IT environment. The results are $120 million in life cycle savings over the next decade and $10 million a year in energy and operational savings.
