Federal 100: Michael C. Brown

Michael C. Brown

Name: Michael C. Brown
Title: Executive Director of the IT Services Office
Agency: Department of Homeland Security

Captain of consolidation. Brown is a key leader at an agency where consolidation has been the name of the game since the beginning. He completed the migration of 16 data centers to two enterprise centers, for an expected savings of $2.8 billion through 2030. He transitioned more than 100,000 DHS employees to a private cloud email service and launched a platform as a service that supports Linux, open-source and Wintel environments at a cost equal to or less than what is commercially available. His high-quality accomplishments and unifying approach have strengthened DHS leaders' commitment to adopting standard IT infrastructure across the department.
