2013 Fed 100

Federal 100: Kay Clarey

Kay Clarey

Name: Kay Clarey
Title: Program Manager, Unified Financial Management System
Agency:  Department of Justice

A unifying personality. Clarey brought together purchasers, IT experts, managers and policy-makers to implement the government's largest non-defense financial system. Under her leadership, UFMS has been deployed to 5,000 users worldwide in six Justice Department organizations. Each implementation was on schedule and within budget and resulted in retaining a clean audit opinion. The secure, integrated solution offers standardized accounting processes and data interfaces — and has already saved the department $4 million. Thanks to Clarey's efforts, UFMS will enable "more informed decision-making and strategic planning for all involved," said Stacia Hylton, director of the U.S. Marshals Service.
