Robert Grossman

Name: Robert Grossman

Taking the long view on big data. Grossman knows that big data is not worth much without the systems and people to make sense of it. So he spent much of 2012 building those capacities in government. He co-led a Defense Science Board task force on cloud security and reliability, helped NASA develop a public cloud solution for satellite data, and counseled other agencies on cloud adoption and advanced analytics. The hype might be new, but, Grossman said, “there is a 50-year perspective on some of these trends.... People with good understanding put in place the right infrastructure.”
