Harnessing big data

report cover

What:  "Harnessing Big Data to Grow Revenue," social infrastructure group GIGYA's outline of how organizations can better utilize their customers' social data. Five steps are included in the paper, beginning with finding a cloud-based database solution.

Why:  According to the paper, the business sector, which GIGYA primarily serves, misses opportunities to strategically use readily available social data that could provide more insight on visitors. But the notion that data should be managed in ways that make sense to end users has obvious application for government as well.

Verbatim:  "As important as the data collection process is, having access to social data is only as useful as your ability to make sense of it. In order for your business to harness social data to gain a more comprehensive view of your users, data needs to be accessed and managed in a way that makes sense to the end users that are analyzing it."
