2014 Fed 100

Federal 100: Gary Bass

Name: Gary Bass
Title: Executive Director
Organization: Bauman Foundation

Advocates' cat-herder. Bass founded the watchdog organization OMB Watch, now known as the Center for Effective Government, and has worked for civic engagement and better government at the Bauman Foundation, a Washington-based grant-giving organization, since 2011. In 2013, Bass brought together the public interest community to provide constructive and coherent feedback on the Obama administration's transparency agenda, particularly with regard to public spending. As one Federal 100 judge noted, "Gary pulled together transparency advocates to make their input effective in a way it never would have been individually."
