Seeding the cloud. As chairwoman of the HHS cloud security group that achieved Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program certification for Amazon Web Services, Gray wrote the book on how agencies can lead commercial firms through the extensive, demanding authorization process for cloud service providers, which includes 297 management and technical controls. Thanks to her work, any agency can take advantage of AWS' cloud services without spending time and money on its own authorization process. Additionally, agencies that want to conduct security assessments on cloud providers can use Gray's template for a collaborative FedRAMP certification process.
