STEM specialist. Under Hrabowski's leadership, the University of Maryland, Baltimore County has been transformed into a hotbed of science, technology, engineering and math education. About 40 percent of UMBC graduates are STEM majors. Hrabowski is an evangelist for math and sciences and has pushed to establish scholarship programs to attract minorities and women and to encourage budding scientists to devote some of their careers to teaching in public schools. And he's not just encouraging students to master their fields. He's also passionate about fostering the kind of collaboration and team building that produce success in the workplace.
