Announcing the 2015 Federal 100

Fed 100 logo

Hundreds of nominations were submitted, and our panel of judges debated for hours. The end result? A list of 100 women and men that should make even the most hardened skeptics optimistic about what's possible in federal IT.

It's a tremendous privilege to be able to sift through all these stories; the pool of nominations provides a great survey of the work being done throughout the community. Next month you'll have the chance to learn more about these individuals as well, via the profiles we will publish in the March 30 issue of FCW and on, and you can meet them in person at the March 26 Fed 100 gala. I know one of these people as well. Very high position in one department insofar as security goes. Knowledgeable from a tech pov. Horrible leader and motivator. Poor leadership and culture are the true root causes of ineffective security. Don't really see solutions/improvement on the horizon. The system is heavily overloaded and stressed presently. Trust does not characterize prevailing relationships horizontally or vertically. The in-fighting for power and resources continues to trump collaboration and teamwork leading to dysfunctional processes and, in some instances, questionable ethical practices. We need leaders.

Who nominates these? I know at least one on the list who would be the last one I would want leading anything related to IT. He may not even know what IT stands for.
