The threat of hackers taking down critical infrastructure -- from the power grid to water treatment plants -- is growing, but Edwards and ICS-CERT worked hard in 2015 to spread awareness of specific threats. Faced with remote access Trojans Havex and BlackEnergy in particular, Edwards helped craft clear response guidelines for industry to manage and guard against the malware. He took the message on the road by holding classified briefings with hundreds of stakeholders to steel the United States' critical infrastructure against attacks by increasingly sophisticated adversaries.
