VA’s silo-buster. Veterans cannot get the care they deserve if the Department of Veterans Affairs’ systems are siloed, and Ocasio — a veteran as well as a technologist and Harvard-trained surgeon — has been central to creating true information sharing across the department. The Enterprise Health Management Platform (eHMP) connects 176 VA sites, drives interoperability with Defense Department systems and paves the way for integration with private-sector systems. “Dr. Ocasio’s vision goes beyond a clinical modernization platform,” a former VA executive said. “eHMP is the cornerstone for...creating a continuous platform for innovation.”
