Smith, who now works for Senate Majority Whip John Cornyn (R-Texas), helped lead the effort to write the Modernizing Government Technology Act in a way that satisfied a diverse group of stakeholders, including industry, Capitol Hill appropriators and spending hawks. The act passed the House on a voice vote, and although it failed to pass the Senate, it’s sure to get another look in the new Congress.
