Supercomputing for cancer research. When Stahlberg’s sister was undergoing treatment for cancer, he realized there was a gap between what is happening in cancer research and what is available at medical facilities. As director of high-performance computing at the Leidos-operated Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research, Stahlberg seized the opportunity to combine the lab’s and the National Cancer Institute’s research with the computing power of the Energy Department.
