Overhaul driver. Any IT transformation or upgrade project at a federal agency carries inherent risk, but there is also danger in keeping to the status quo. In 2017, Caswell worked with the Federal Communications Commission on an effort to overhaul the agency’s decades-old technology stack by adopting cloud-based tools. As a result of his efforts, external users can now interact with the FCC without downloading any extra applications or extensions. The FCC also achieved 80 percent savings with the new stack over the cost of on-premises infrastructure.
