2018 Fed 100

Federal 100: Tom Jones

Name: Tom Jones
Title: Deputy Director, Spectrum Policy and International Engagements, Office of the CIO
Agency: Department of Defense

DOD’s global ambassador. Jones’ work is critical to ensuring that DOD and U.S. allies are synchronized across portfolios, including information exchanges and policy development on secure mobile communications, spectrum, cybersecurity, tactical communications and information systems security. Much of that vital engagement was behind the scenes, but Jones also planned, coordinated and executed two U.S.-hosted CIO forums — at U.S. Pacific Command and the Naval Postgraduate School — and a similar meeting in Australia. By working relentlessly to engage with his counterparts across a wide range of time zones, he ensured that the events — and the broader partnerships — were as productive as possible.
