Underwater Indiana Jones. Pawlowski put together and led a public/private team of 40 volunteer scientists, technologists and archivists who digitally modeled the wreckage of USS Arizona, which sank during the attack on Pearl Harbor in World War II, to better understand changes at the historic site. Under his leadership, the team developed an innovative way to use 3D imaging underwater by combining three technologies for the first time -- a repeatable and scalable approach that has since been released into the public domain.
