The General Service Administration's IT services shop has a new executive director.
Angela Colter, previously 18F's director of strategy, will now take over the digital services team on an acting basis. Colter will replace Rebecca Piazza who has headed 18F since October on an acting basis. Victor Udoewa will step into the director of strategy role.
Colter announced the moves on Twitter, and a GSA spokesperson confirmed the news to FCW, noting the agency does not comment on personnel matters.
Piazza, who will be heading to the private sector, praised the pick as "the right person to lead 18F next."
Aaron Snow, one of the cofounders of 18F, called Colter a "great choice."
Colter joined 18F in February 2016 as a strategist and served as the tech shop's acting director of strategy since October. Her projects have included a redesign of clinicaltrials.gov, and she has served on the Technology Transformation Service Advisory Task Force.
Before joining government, Colter worked at Electronic Ink, a research and design consulting firm, and at UserWorks, a user experience design and usability research company with federal clients, before that.
18F has undergone major reorganizations in its short lifetime, first reorganized under the Technology Transformation Service in 2016, then into the Federal Acquisition Service a year later. Colter takes over 18F at a time when the terms of its first cohort of hires' are expiring or will soon expire.
