Spreading the intel info wealth. Tsao developed several projects that have shaped a data-driven approach to fighting terrorism online. One is an online training program on how terrorists exploit social media and the internet. Another is a conference series called Digital Forum on Terrorism Prevention, which has attracted about 1,000 public- and private-sector specialists to discuss information sharing. World leaders at the G7 summit and the Five Eyes intelligence alliance recognized both efforts. Tsao also launched the Countering Violent Extremism Task Force’s website with more than 90 resources on terrorism prevention. She is now a senior adviser on emerging technology policy at DHS.

    DHS chief Nielsen resigns

    Kirstjen Nielsen, the first Homeland Security secretary with a background in cybersecurity, is being replaced on an acting basis by the Customs and Border Protection chief. Her last day is April 10.
