In 2018, Wiatrowski championed the use of analytics and artificial intelligence to evaluate nationwide data on the millions of workplace injuries and illnesses each year. Thanks to his cutting-edge efforts to streamline the review of occupational safety and health statistics, the bureau was able to release more accurate information to the government, researchers, the business community and workers — and do it more quickly — while freeing bureau employees to tackle higher-level activities.
