Meshing statistics and AI. The data collected and published by the Bureau of Labor Statistics is critical for understanding economic and workplace trends. In 2018, Wiatrowski championed the use of analytics and artificial intelligence to evaluate nationwide data on the millions of workplace injuries and illnesses each year. Thanks to his cutting-edge efforts to streamline the review of occupational safety and health statistics, the bureau was able to release more accurate information to the government, researchers, the business community and workers — and do it more quickly — while freeing bureau employees to tackle higher-level activities.
