Putting sharper eyes in the sky. Smith conducted a holistic assessment of DOD’s airborne intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance sensor capabilities and identified improvements that are enabling the broad sharing of data to the intelligence analysis and command and control communities. He guided his teams through gathering mission requirements, establishing an architecture, identifying funding sources, and procuring and fielding the appropriate systems. As a result, the initiative is enabling intelligence analysts and DOD decision-makers to quickly access an unprecedented array of AISR information. Smith kept the project moving forward by producing cogent arguments for meeting the warfighter’s need for this critical capability.
