Name: Col. Robert J. Mikesh
Title: IT Lead, Operation Warp Speed
Organization: Defense Department

Three hats, one mission. In May 2020, Mikesh was selected to join Operation Warp Speed, the White House’s national program to accelerate the development, manufacture and distribution of COVID-19 vaccines, therapeutics and diagnostics. As the IT component’s leader, he was responsible for developing logistics systems to ensure that vaccine orders were received, shipped and tracked. He developed an IT infrastructure that integrated data streams from federal entities, states, localities, vaccine manufacturers, logistics companies and others to create a unified tool. In addition, his expert use of other transaction authorities enabled new capabilities, including the Army Vantage platform that empowered commanders to make data-driven decisions during the pandemic.
