Energy gets new CIO in July

Robert Brese is the Energy Department’s new CIO, according to news reports.

Brese has been the acting CIO at the department since April. InformationWeek reported June 19 that he takes on the official title July 1.

Before becoming deputy CIO at Energy in 2010, Brese was deputy CIO for IT for the National Nuclear Security Administration.

He was also a submarine officer in the Navy. He retired after a 22-year career, which culminated in his assignment as a senior advisor to the deputy administrator for defense programs within NNSA.
