Transportation CIO to step down

Nitin Pradhan, CIO of the Transportation Department, is leaving his position at the end of August, according to an agency announcement.

He plans to spend his time instead consulting with "the next generation of technology companies," the announcement states. His deputy CIO, Tim Schmidt, will step into the top role in an acting capacity.

The DOT CIO oversees a $3 billion IT portfolio.
