Paul was relatively new to the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency when the financial crisis hit in 2008. During this turbulent period in the nation’s banking system, he launched and implemented an information technology modernization strategy that provided the office with a business-driven architecture that relies on cloud computing and Web-based tools.
The effort led to a 20 percent decrease in the office's operational IT budget.
“At the height of the nation’s banking crisis, Bajinder Paul’s leadership [resulted in] transformational change by inspiring his team and his organization to rapidly implement IT modernization strategies [and] ensure solutions that provided citizen-centric services and enabled information sharing and collaboration across organizations,” said Martha Dorris, deputy associate administrator of the General Services Administration's Office of Citizen Services.
