Since October the Dulles Regional Chamber of Commerce’s GovCONnections committee has been hosting a three-part series entitled “The State of Cyber Security: What You Need to Know Today and Tomorrow.” Part III will take place December 7 and focus on cyber security policy, legislation, and budget. Please join us to learn more about cyber trends from our esteemed speakers below. -Robert Butler is Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Cyber Policy, Department of Defense (DOD). Mr. Butler is responsible for providing insightful policy advice and support to the Secretary of Defense and other senior DOD leaders by formulating, recommending, integrating, and implementing policies and strategies to improve DOD Cyber posture. This encompasses DoD policy relating to requirements, capability development, operations, declaratory policy, employment, and international cooperation or agreements. -Alan Chvotkin, Executive Vice President, Professional Services Council (PSC). Mr. Chvotkin is one of the most knowledgeable and respected experts on federal acquisition policy, legislation, and regulation in the nation. At PSC, he is responsible for all of the association’s legislative and regulatory policy activity. He is also a founding member and continuing leader of the federal contracting industry’s Acquisition Reform Working Group, which was established in 1993. This GovCONnections series is designed to educate our community of small and medium-size government contractors on a number of hot, topical issues of the day ranging from cyber security and emerging technologies to new government policies and regulations. The first two panels focused on four major themes including cyber threats, supply chain assurance, architectural impacts and training for the future, featuring notable figures and luminaries from both private and pubic sectors in the Washington DC area.
