Carnegie Institution for Science

Professionals, policy experts, and scholars will gather at the Carnegie Institution for Science on December 2nd, 2011 to discuss a myriad of science, technology and environmental issues. A featured panel discussion will include an examination of the STAR Metrics program. STAR Metrics is the White House Office of Science and Technology’s partnership with the National Institutes of Health and National Science Foundation. The program is designed to examine the outcomes of science investment to the public. This panel will include dialogue about its ramifications for and involvement of the private sector. Representatives of various science and technology businesses will join the discussions. This year the Dupont Summit will also explore issues of climate change, sustainability, energy policy, nanotechnology, women in the sciences and other pressing issues. The format of the conference includes panel discussions, presentations and individual talks. The Policy Studies Organization (PSO) created this event in 2008 to allow for discussion of emerging issues, and to provide the opportunity to dialogue and engage policy issues in an interdisciplinary and inclusive fashion. Advanced registration is required for this event at http://bit.ly/dupont2011. Admission is free and a networking lunch is included. For more information contact Daniel Gutierrez-Sandoval, PSO Executive Director, at 202-483-2512 ext. 116, or by e-mail at [email protected] The Policy Studies Organization is the publisher of 11 academic journals and 3 book series, and along with the Dupont Summit, it hosts conferences and debates on a variety of policy issues.
