He spoke in public and testified before Congress more than two dozen times last year to explain control systems security to technical and general audiences. He also directed DHS teams that conducted more than 50 assessments and were dispatched 13 times to investigate and help correct cyber incidents and attacks on critical infrastructure. Some of those incidents involved the Stuxnet worm, a sophisticated and targeted piece of malware that was designed to interfere with the operation of machinery at Iran’s nuclear power plants.

McGurk's in-depth knowledge and ability to explain complex technology have put him at the forefront of the investigation and public discussion of emerging cyber threats.
