IARPA is hosting its first-ever industry day over two days, Oct. 29-30.
WHAT: IARPA Day
WHY: The Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity doesn't want to be known as a shadowy spy funding shop that tasks academics with projects like measuring trust or compiling a database of metaphors in all languages. Or at least, that's not all they want to be known as. To make friends and influence people, IARPA is hosting its first-ever industry day, to be held over two days – Oct. 29 and Oct. 30.
Attendance at day one, to be held at IARPA's College Park, Md., headquarters, is limited to 200 registrants, who must have top secret/secret compartmentalized information clearances. Day two will be held offsite near IARPA HQ, and is open to 400 attendees who RSVP by Oct. 15, no clearance required.
IARPA plans to offer briefings on some ongoing projects, including an IT supply chain security program, a crowdsourcing tool to forecast world events, and a project to improve speech recognition tools across multiple languages. Attendees will also have the opportunity to discuss business or employment prospects with IARPA personnel.
