The Senate late last week established a special committee to address the Year 2000 problem.

The Special Committee on the Year 2000 Technology Problem will study how much the Year 2000 problem affects the executive and judicial branches of federal and state governments and the private sector in the United States and abroad. It also will analyze the findings and make recommendations for new legislation and amendments to existing laws that will assist the Year 2000 conversion effort.The committee will consist of seven members, who will be appointed in the following weeks.
