Connecticut plans to add a new feature to its World Wide Web server that will help its information technology office manage the growing volume of email coming through its ConneCT state home page.
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Connecticut plans to add a new feature to its World Wide Web server that will help its information technology office manage the growing volume of e-mail coming through its ConneCT state home page.
The feature, called Ask ConneCT, will automatically route incoming messages based on information in e-mail subject lines, said Linda D. DeConti, planning specialist in the division of administration of Connecticut's Office of Policy and Management and the state's principle Web developer.
The state receives between 75 and 100 messages a day through the site, according to DeConti. Ask ConneCT will not be able to sort all messages, however, requiring IS staff to sort through a sizable "miscellaneous bucket." But it will reduce the workload, she said. The tool is based on software originally developed by students at the University of Connecticut for the university's library.
