Justice to pull stakes in Dallas

The Justice Department is relocating its data center in Dallas to Clarksburg, W.Va., to be closer to its headquarters in the nation's capital.

Clarksburg — a few hours' drive from Washington, D.C. — already is home to major information technology projects for the Justice Department. The FBI's Criminal Justice Information Services Division, for example, calls Clarksburg home. The Justice Department also has another data center close to Washington in Rockville, Md.

Justice officials use the data centers for housing and managing an array of information — from administrative data to criminal justice statistics.

Lockheed Martin Corp., a contractor on the department's Information Technology Support Services contract, announced this month that the Justice Department had chosen the company to move the Dallas data center. The relocation of the center should bring in close to $5.4 million for the company.
