Two notes on pay parity

Mr. Zall's May 21 column, "Equal raises for all," was a slap in the face of all military personnel, past and present. Your choosing to publish it a week before Memorial Day is unconscionable.

So why doesn't Ann Burleson join the military? [Letter to the Editor: Military comes out ahead in pay.] I served for 20 years in the active-duty force, and I know that the entire military workforce — including the federal civilians and those in uniform — are underpaid. I am now employed with a Defense contractor.
